The M.A. in German is normally a four-semester program. Since course offerings in Spring and Summer terms usually are not sufficient to allow full-time progress toward the degree, students should plan to complete most of their course work in the Fall and Winter semesters of two academic years. Full-time enrollment for a graduate student is defined in the Graduate Catalog as at least 8 ½ hours per semester.
The M.A. requires:
Normally no more than nine (9) hours of credit (three courses) from related interdisciplinary courses outside the department may be used to meet the 24-hour requirement. Before enrolling in such courses, students must obtain approval to do so from the chair of the student’s Thesis Advisory Committee chair or from the Graduate Advisor.
Graduate students must maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 in order to graduate. No C credit for courses taken within or outside the Department may be applied toward the M.A. degree.
