Information About 16-Credit Exam
Students with good high-school experience and German-speaking missions generally take 205 or 206 and will test out of 105 and 106, for eight total credits. Students coming from H.S. must test out during their first German class at BYU. The placement exam must be taken in order to determine which class this group of students should enroll in (1131 JFSB).
The 16-credit exam must be taken during the first German class after mission experience. If a students misses the scheduled time for the exam there will be an additional $50.00 late fee assessed and he/she will have to take the paper exam.
If a student has taken an exam at another university or through our Off-Campus Testing Office and the credits were transferred to BYU he/she will not be allowed to take the 16-credit exam. This does not apply to AP credit.
Forms will be distributed by your instructor of Germ 315 and 321. All other students will pick them up from the Department office, 3190 JFSB. They will be available September 20th. Students must pay the non-refundable fee of $20.00 in the Cashier's Office, 155 ASB, then take the form to 3190 JFSB and enter his/her name onto the computer by the third week of classes.
You can sign up for an exam time beginning (time), in B-151 JFSB.
There will be no exceptions. It is the student's responsibility to schedule a time from among the days indicated for your class. Failure to take the exam on the days scheduled for the class disqualifies the student from taking the exam on the computer. Students will then have to pay a $50.00 late fee and take a paper-and-pencil version of the exam scheduled through the department.
