Submissions (Winter 2008):

We accept submissions written in English, German or Russian.  Entries may include critical or personal essays, book reviews, or fiction which pertain to Germanic or Slavic language, literature, or culture. All entries must be clearly written and in sufficient detail to allow the editors to assess the merits of the work. Scholarly essays should be at least four pages in length, and all submissions should conform to the MLA style guide. Submissions will not be returned.

Please abide by the following guidelines in preparing and submitting your manuscripts:

1. All submissions must be in MLA format.
2. In order to ensure a fair process of review, we request that all authors submit a coversheet with two copies of their manuscript. The coversheet should have your name, email address, phone number, university affiliation, and the title of the manuscript. The title should also be on the manuscript itself. Please make sure your name is not on the manuscript. Because we will not return manuscripts, we recommend that you send us copies only.
3. Please submit the coversheet and two hard copies of your manuscript to the following address before January 21, 2008 at 4 p.m.:

Perspectives Submissions
Department of Germanic and Slavic Languages
3112 JFSB, BYU
Provo, UT 84602

Because of the large number of submissions, we cannot accept email attachments.

Authors will be notified of acceptance by February 12. Accepted authors will then be able to make minor revisions as suggested by their reviewers. For the final submission, due February 26, papers must be submitted by email with any necessary revisions in MS Word, Word Perfect, or RTF format to the following email address: <perspectives@byu.edu>. All accepted entries will be published in PDF or HTML format on the journal's website by May 1, 2008.

All BYU students with work accepted for publication are eligible for the $50 award as soon as they submit their revised manuscripts via email. In order to receive the award, BYU students should submit their name, current address, and social security number (or BYU ID number) to the department secretary in 3112 JFSB. They may either email her the information or give it to her in person. A check will be sent to them in the mail.
